World Inside

from The Cabin by Them Thieves

lyrics

Oh my god. This was the great collapse. That shook the skin right off these bones. I felt it all come down. Like lights that found the guilty. Like cracks upon these wounded hands. The tired stretched across my eyes. There's a life worth living. I just need to find it. So when it comes I can hold it like graffiti. And paint it across my face so I don't ever forget. Just what it is to breathe when the air is as thick as war. Just to see when the highway stretches like an endless night. This is my time. To find the hope of the life inside. I've got the gift. I've got the sight. I've got a heartbeat more than most. I've got the calm. I've got the grace. I've got everything. This wilted skin will shed and bloom new. This skin will peel away with all I knew. The warmth moved throughout my veins. I've got the flame to burn. And set fire to the old. A start of new shone through these eyes I've claimed my own. Now there's a life worth keeping because I've taken a chance. I know how to feel with this newfound breeze. As the sky cracks and pours its light all over me. In the end I'm still here. In the end I'm still breathing. I found a place. To keep the peace of my world inside.
